It isn’t always necessary to completely overhaul a space to renovate it; to effectively renovate a workspace, it’s important to talk to the people who will be working there.
Geometry. The spaces include those typically found in a beauty salon: a reception area, treatment rooms, restrooms, and a small shop.
On the ground. The floor is the existing one; vinyl inserts were added to address excessive wear, and fuchsia-colored inlaid rugs have given new life to a floor that was in very poor condition in some areas.
Lights. A plan was developed to replace all halogen lights with LED lights in order to reduce operating costs and prevent the light fixtures from overheating.
Bathrooms. Bathrooms are the perfect example of how you can completely transform the look of a room simply through remodeling, applying wall enamel, and using a two-tone paint scheme. Custom-made furniture and an all-pink mirror—small details that reveal a newfound attention to detail in the historic spaces of Estetista Cinica at 32 Piazza Buonarroti.
At first, the shop wasn’t a necessity for the salon; when it opened, there weren’t any products for sale yet. In recent years, the brand has really taken shape, and Estetista Cinica now offers dozens of products (and they’re amazing), so it was necessary to redesign a corner that plays a strategically important role in the beauty salon’s operations.
The wallpaper—soft and three-dimensional, in the brand’s signature colors—creates a feather-like effect that is both intentional and ultra-exclusive. It’s the same wallpaper we used in the new beauty salon, creating a sense of continuity between the two spaces. We then chose not to touch a section of the old wallpaper with pink and fuchsia polka dots, which serves as a sort of good-luck charm for all of us.
The neon sign: A giant, custom-made flamingo was created to welcome customers; it stands out easily and is perfect for use in photos for marketing and social media.
Reception: At the heart of this renovation was the creation of a new reception area that would house everything Marta and Claudia—the receptionist and the center’s manager—deemed necessary for the center to run smoothly. Space for the cash register, the POS terminals, the appointment log (a huge A3-sized notebook—a dream come true for anyone trying to get an appointment at the center), and a thousand other top-secret details.
Grooves: They were all the rage on social media—a remnant of a past renovation, back when Cristina Fogazzi was just starting out and working with a limited budget. We decided to leave them there as a lasting memento, but we made them super cool by covering them in glitter.
