Offices

Offices, studios and coworking
Offices are physical spaces dedicated to work, to concentration but also to cooperation and exchange. Originally, the name itself described a position, a role, and did not represent—as it does today—a well-defined physical place. Today, offices like stores follow general rules tied to the paths of those who work there, to the need for privacy and sharing. Every office has specific characteristics that depend on the company or professional firm that will physically work in it. The transformation of the world of work also brings with it the transformation of spaces: if we think of the design of a civil engineering studio just a few years ago, drafting boards occupied a large part of the available surface area; the evolution of technology has changed the way of working, the tools have changed, and with them the space required.

A space for every need
When we begin designing an office, the first question we must ask ourselves is what characteristics the company or professional firm that will move in and occupy those spaces has or will have. It is important to ask questions about the client’s working needs. Studying habits and needs, such as creating spaces for weekly or bi-monthly meetings, or whether there is a need for neutral rooms in which to conduct confidential interviews. In the section dedicated to offices, you will find all those spaces in which there is no direct sale to the public. There are hybrid solutions in which sales and offices coexist; in these cases, it is necessary to pay particular attention to ensuring that the coexistence of both realities does not create harmful and dysfunctional overlaps.
