When the boundary between outdoor and indoor space does not exist

A Milanese terrace designed to erase the boundary between inside and out. In Casa Green is back the floor is continuous, glass is the only diaphragm, and an air-conditioned veranda with an openable roof acts as a hinge between the living area and the outdoor space. The Boffi kitchen continues into a solid-walnut snack top, a bespoke bookcase separates the fitness area, and outside, holm oaks in cor-ten planters create a green frame that protects from the city’s greyness. Between Paola Lenti, Viabizzuno fireflies and Davide Groppi’s Sampei, every corner of the terrace has its own atmosphere: light, greenery and colour to survive Milan.
The spaces. There is no real diaphragm separating outside and inside. The living area is continuous between kitchen and terrace, in a unicum of glass that frames the light. The floor is continuous, precisely to underline this aspect.
The light. The whole home is full of light. The veranda ceiling too is internally covered with Barrisol Lumiere. This solution, as well as diffusing sunlight, lets the ceiling become an element of diffused light in the evening.
Furnishings. The Boffi kitchen has a long solid-walnut snack top for breakfasts and aperitifs. A bespoke bookcase separates the kitchen area from a fitness area with a treadmill, while the dining table is inside an air-conditioned veranda with an openable roof. Near the dining area there is an area for preparing barbecues.
The TV unit, which also houses the fridge and, in the closed parts, technical areas, is entirely bespoke. All the outdoor furnishings are by Paola Lenti, including the sofas and the beautiful micro-cement table.
The lighting. Light is a fundamental element of the outdoor space. The whole perimeter of plants hosts Viabizzuno ‘fireflies’, while the lounge area is lit by Davide Groppi’s ‘Sampei’, which create a soft effect on the conversation areas. The outdoor table zone is lit by a ‘catenary of light’.
Terrace. The outdoor area is divided into two distinct zones separated by the kitchen-veranda. The perimeter of the lounge-terrace is occupied by a system of bespoke cor-ten planters holding a holm-oak hedge. This way, together with various plants occupying the lower part, you can enjoy the sun in total privacy. The other part of the terrace, which enjoys the most beautiful view, has planters with different plants and Paola Lenti outdoor furnishings in various colours.
