A home spread over three levels where the staircase is not a simple building element but the true architectural protagonist of the project. In Casa Glass House the staircase becomes a huge glass lantern: light, dematerialised by transparent parapets and a white-metal structure, it lights the living area and marks the space together with the lift, replacing any dividing wall. Light plays with glass everywhere, from the spatula-textured finishes to the coloured-glass column wall of the kitchen, while the linear systems of sliding spotlights and the light grooves draw the ceiling.

The staircase. The home is spread over three levels. The staircase therefore takes on a central importance. For this reason it is conceived as a huge glass lantern, lighting the whole living area and the sleeping-area landing. It is light, in white-painted metal, with parapets also in glass to dematerialise it as much as possible and let the light through.
Bespoke. The living-area space is not split between living and kitchen. The staircase and the lift are the only elements that mark the space, and are bounded by a bespoke structure of shelves and solids.
Lights. To emphasise the longitudinal sense of the space, linear systems of sliding spotlights were inserted into the false ceiling, which with their black cuts draw the ceiling. The glass lantern is marked by the linear under-shelf lighting that emphasises its shape.
Details. Light and glass take centre stage. The kitchen has its column wall also clad in coloured glass. The surfaces are treated with spatula-textured finishes. There are also light grooves in the ceiling.
