A Milanese flat tailored to a dynamic family

A dynamic Milanese family, a flat to redesign and a palette that dialogues in every room. Casa blue&orange revolves around the island kitchen, the true heart of the living area: a bespoke unit that naturally divides the kitchen from the living room and creates a triple environment where cooking also becomes an act of sociability. The orange chairs of the dining table find a visual echo in the entrance wallpaper, while the blue of the bathroom tiles acts as an elegant counterpoint. Between pale parquet, ceramic and marble, every detail is custom: an example of contemporary Milanese elegance.

The renovation project of this flat in Milan, by architecture studio 23bassi, is a perfect example of how interior design can transform a living space, combining functionality and style. The work involved the whole flat, with the aim of creating a modern, welcoming environment that responded to the needs of a dynamic, contemporary family.

Interior design and bespoke furnishings. One of the most distinctive elements of this Milan flat renovation is the choice of bespoke furnishings, designed to optimise every available space. Every detail was looked after to the smallest degree, with furniture designed specifically to integrate perfectly with the flat’s structure. The living area, which includes the kitchen, dining room and living room, presents itself as a single, fluid environment, thanks to the use of bespoke furniture that defines the space without weighing it down.

Chromatic coherence. The choice of furnishing accessories reflects the project’s attention to chromatic coherence. A key example of this approach is the orange chairs surrounding the dining table, a visually strong element that finds its echo in the wallpaper of the entrance area, creating a chromatic dialogue between the various spaces. This use of vivid colours, skilfully balanced with neutral tones, gives the flat a touch of personality and liveliness, while keeping an elegant, refined atmosphere.

Island kitchen: the heart of the flat. The island kitchen is another focal point of the renovation project. The central island not only acts as a working zone for preparing meals but naturally divides the kitchen from the living room, creating a triple environment that unites the conviviality of the dining room, the functionality of the kitchen and the relaxation of the living room. This solution, typical of modern interior-design projects, maximises the usability of the space and makes the kitchen a meeting place, not just for cooking but also for socialising.

Bespoke furniture. The island is a perfect example of bespoke furniture, with smooth surfaces, clean lines and minimalist details. The grey and neutral tones of the kitchen units, contrasted by the dark top of the dining table, help create a sophisticated, contemporary environment. The smoked-glass pendant lamps add a touch of lightness and elegance, while the lighting hidden under the kitchen wall units amplifies the feeling of warmth and welcome.

The bathrooms: elegance and functionality. The flat’s renovation also paid great attention to the bathrooms, which reflect the same elegant, functional approach. In the first bathroom, the wall tiles in grey and blue tones create a relaxing, modern atmosphere. The dominant element is the backlit mirror, which adds depth and enhances the room. The essential, clean-design sanitaryware, together with the high-quality finishes, complete the space. The second bathroom is characterised by a choice of mosaic tiles in earthy tones, giving dynamism and texture. The walk-in shower, with glass panels and matt-black taps, adds a touch of modernity and refinement. Here too, the lighting and the use of reflecting surfaces amplify the perception of space, keeping a feeling of lightness and comfort.

Colour palette and materials. One of the central aspects of the flat’s renovation is the colour palette studied down to the smallest detail. The choice of neutral colours, such as grey, beige and white, was balanced with the use of brighter shades, such as the orange of the chairs and the blue of the bathroom walls. This chromatic balance helps create a visual continuity between the rooms, while keeping a feeling of variety and originality in each one. The materials were selected to ensure durability and aesthetic beauty. The pale wood parquet, which extends throughout the flat, adds a touch of warmth and naturalness, while the ceramic and marble surfaces used in the bathrooms and kitchen give a sense of cleanliness and elegance.

23bassi’s renovation project transformed this Milanese flat into a unique, welcoming space, where interior design and functionality merge harmoniously. Thanks to the use of bespoke furnishings, carefully studied accessories and a skilful combination of colours, the flat has become an example of contemporary elegance.

This Milan flat renovation not only renewed the spaces aesthetically but also improved usability and comfort, making it perfect for a modern, dynamic life. The final result is a flat that expresses personality and style, without giving up practicality and comfort, uniting the best of interior design with craftsmanlike attention to detail.
