A two-level flat in Zurich for a young couple of teachers and their son. The leitmotif of Casa Archimede is the bespoke furnishing: made of anti-fingerprint white Fenix laminate with full-height oak-veneer handles, it runs through all the rooms and connects them in a unified language. A few well-chosen inserts — the petrol blue of the reading niche, the oak of the study’s open compartments, the wallpapers in nuance — become accents that break the continuity without snapping it. Industrial pieces by MDF Italia, Cattelan, Calligaris and Artemide dialogue with the custom work in full harmony.

Solutions. The home hosts a young couple of teachers and their son. The interior project is designed to fit out every area of the flat both functionally and aesthetically. Structurally, the bespoke furnishing is the trait d’union connecting all the rooms. Made of anti-fingerprint white Fenix laminate, it has full-height oak-veneer handles that give rhythm to the doors. At particular points there are elements that emphasise the special features of the design. For example, on the sleeping-area floor a bespoke reading niche with petrol-blue inserts was conceived, or in the study some open compartments in oak veneer.
Furnishings. All the furnishing is conceived on a palette of continuity between the industrial pieces and the bespoke work. The entrance is characterised by a bespoke cupboard, with a key-tray with mirror and drawer, set against a wall defined by a wallpaper in nuance. In the dining area the Cattelan table has, as a backdrop, a Random bookcase by MDF Italia, which acts as a prelude to the study and smart-working area. The study is entirely bespoke, with Artemide’s Tolomeo lamps marking the workstations. In the living area the TV and stereo are placed in a bespoke unit, creating an intimate TV zone with the Campeggi sofa and the Calligaris armchairs.
On the sleeping-area floor, the bedroom has a fully bespoke wardrobe area, enhanced by the Nova Mobili dressing table and the Dress Me bedside lights by Quicklighting. The child’s room, which has a wallpaper framed by the bespoke furnishing, is conceived with a desk for studying under the large window. In the area under the living-room stairs, a bespoke planter was conceived to hold plants that ideally divide the living area from the dining area.
